Dennis Dexter Haysbert (born June 2, 1954) is an American actor. He is known for his roles as baseball player Pedro Cerrano in the Major League film trilogy, Secret Service agent Tim Collin in the political thriller film Absolute Power , Sergeant Major Jonas Blane on the CBS action drama series The Unit , and President David Palmer on the first five seasons of 24 . He has also appeared in the films Love Field , Heat , Waiting to Exhale , and Far from Heaven , as well as the science fiction series Incorporated .

He has appeared in a number of films, including The Family Stone (2005), The Game Plan (2007), 12 Rounds (2009), I Can Do Bad All by Myself (2009), Good Deeds (2012), and The Cabin in the Woods (2012). On television, White was a regular cast member in Men of a Certain Age (2009–11), Beauty and the Beast (2012-13), and Ambitions (2019).

In 2016, he began starring as Jacob Greenleaf in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series, Greenleaf . Rucker is married to Kelly Davis Rucker, a graduate of Hampton University. Rucker also had a recurring guest spot on the 4th and final season of the hit UPN sitcom, Half & Half.

His roles include portrayals of Lamont Carr in the Disney film Full Court Miracle (2003), Laveinio in the dramatic film The Wood (1999) and Mike in the dramatic films Why Did I Get Married? (2007) and Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010). He also played Bruce Van Exel, court services officer, on the CBS television series Judging Amy , which ran from 1999 to 2005. He currently plays Sergeant Wade Grey on the ABC police drama The Rookie .
